Better With Art

Watercolor Flow & Self-Compassion

Does the watercolor look the way I thought it would? No. Did it go as smoothly as I thought it would? Also no.

But that’s okay.

This week we’re embracing imperfection in our art. And in ourselves.

Self-compassion is important for mental health. Perfectly imperfect creative self-care art-making can help us learn to extend it to ourselves. And accept it.

Welcome to Better With Art! I’m Melinda and I’m here to encourage you to reclaim your creativity and practice creative self-care with weekly small-art prompts with inexpensive and easily-accessible materials.Reclaiming your creativity doesn’t need to cost a lot of money.

And you don’t need a lot of time to practice meaningful creative self-care.

This week I’m using an inexpensive Prang watercolor set of the eight basic colors.

Although not all BETTER WITH ART therapeutic art activities on this new channel will be done in art art journal, quite a few will be. If you’re interested in the best for my wet, dry, and layered applications, here are more details I keep updating, as the journal I always recommended is not longer available.

If you use any of my Amazon links and make a qualifying purchase, I will make a small commission as an Amazon associate. This does not affect your price, but allows you to support my channel with your new art supplies. So, thanks so much if you do!
