Finding Calm & Quiet in Imperfect Art-Making
Join me for a relaxing and therapeutic art session designed for creative self-care. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need a break, grab some paper or your art journal, a Sharpie or any pen, and unwind with an easy, enjoyable art exercise.
In this video I used two size tips, but enjoyed the project better with just a Sharpie. As always, it’s process over perfection.
In this week’s video, I’ll guide you through a lovey but simple, and, yes, imperfect, flower petal design with repetitive motions that quiet the mind and promote mental well-being.
Take a moment to connect with your creative side today. This little art activity is perfect for all skill levels, including those who don’t consider themselves artists.
Materials
Although not all BETTER WITH ART therapeutic art activities will be done on paper or in an art journal, quite a few will be. If you don’t have one, and it’s not in the budget, use paper. An art journal is a great tool, a safe place to express yourself and experiment without fear of what others think. If you’re interested in the best art journal for my wet, dry, and layered applications, check out the art journals I’ve reviewed, as the journal I always recommended is no longer available.
I love black Sharpies, and bought my most recent pack of black Sharpies on Amazon.
There are frequent sales on various waterproof art pens I’ve bought on Amazon, including MARTCOLOR 12 Size Micro-Pen Fineliner Ink Pens and TWOHANDS Fineliner Art Pens.
If you use any of my Amazon links and make a qualifying purchase, I will make a small commission as an Amazon Associate. This does not affect your price, but allows you to support BETTER WITH ART with your new art supplies. So, thanks so much if you do! If you’d like to see more of more art materials I use that are available on Amazon, you can check out my Amazon Storefront.

Mentioned in Today’s Video
In this week’s video I mention a video I thought was a project from after I started my new BETTER WITH ART channel to feature my creative self-care content, but finally tracked it down in the BETTER WITH ART playlist on my original channel. Check out my More than Scribbles: How Doodling Helps Your Brain video to learn how the simple act of doodling helps our brains.
Make art, Friend. Because we are BETTER WITH ART
