Find Peace in the Process: Neurographic Lines & Color
Grab a Sharpie or something like it, and some color. Any will work, but watercolor is ideal. This week we’re revisiting when I started one of my favorite mind relaxers, neurographic lines. Before I knew they had a name.
Welcome to BETTER WITH ART. I’m Melinda and I’m here to encourage you to reclaim your creativity and practice creative self-care with weekly small-art prompts that can be done in an art journal or on paper if you don’t have one.
If you’d like one that is ideal for my simple form of art journaling, the paper is important. It needs to be a heavy weight and preferably hot-press because although I love the texture of cold-press it’s really hard on markers and pens. Click here for the one I use in all my videos and the art journaling groups at the library where I work is 140lb/300gsm. Sold in a three-pack, it also remains the best regular-price value that I’ve found.
This week I’m using a micron pen, a black Sharpie, and a silver Sharpie in three different versions of the same type of art. Check out what I’m using, and some cheaper alternatives below. If you use any of my Amazon links and make a qualifying purchase, I will make a small commission as an Amazon associate. This does not affect your price, but supports my sharing my healthy art habit with others. So thanks if you do!

As far as inexpensive watercolor pencils, I actually prefer the Crayola.
Whatever materials you use this week, MAKE ART! Take an ART BREAK to practice creative self-care.
To join a supportive and encouraging little group of others at different places on our creative self-care journeys, sign up here. You’ll also receive no-more-than-weekly emails from me.
And they’re not in the video below, but I’m loving MY ART PANTS and HAVE YOU TAKEN AN ART BREAK TODAY? hoodie you can find in my Fourthwall shop.
If you hop over to YouTube to watch my videos without a paid subscription (I don’t either), you may see the typical ads at the beginning and end of my videos. I will never choose to have them run during my videos. And although I may have a subscription for tutorials in the future, BETTER WITH ART prompts will always be free. If you’d like to support my channel monetarily, and every dollar tip counts, there’s a THANKS button below my videos you can use. Though I’ve heard not everyone sees it.
An easy and free way to help my channel grow so I can encourage even more people to make art is to hit the LIKE button. A comment helps even more. And don’t forget to subscribe.
If you now some who needs to be reminded that taking to make art is not a waste of time, and needs to be encouraged to reclaim their creativity and practice creative self-care, share.
Thank you for the opportunity to remind and encourage you to take time for art.
