100 Days of Mixed Media Fun Week 1 Supplies
As it should say to the right, and you can find more details about below, if you use any of my Amazon links and make a qualifying purchase, I will make a small commission as an Amazon associate. This does not affect your price, but allows you to support my channel with your purchase. So, thanks so much if you do! The same is true of my Blick links as a Blick affiliate.
Week 1 Supplies
I typically buy my paints from Blick Art Materials. They’re cheaper than on Amazon, but there isn’t always free shipping.
Liquitex Basics acrylic paint, good paint and value
quinacridone magenta
cadmium yellow medium hue
Prussian blue hue (if not in stock, I also like phthalo blue)
Payne’s gray
Paper
Richeson Disposable Palette Paper Pad, 50 sheets (Yes, disposable BUT you can reuse these with this technique!)
The tissue paper I used was inexpensive gift-wrap tissue paper. One I commonly use is from Dollar General. As is the white plastic tablecloth.
Brushes
Simply Simmons XL #50 short handle filbert brush
As far as a narrower flat brush, the type I use in this video are no longer available. The slightly wider alternative I used was just a cheap brush from Dollar General. Use what you have. As long as it’s soft. I’ll have more brush recommendations as I try more.
Available on Amazon
I don’t know the brand cooling rack I used in this video, as it was a gift, but this one has all the features of mine: four racks, not grid patterned, collapsible, and adjustable with three settings.
MY FAVORITE SCISSORS I love these and have been using them for years, including when I worked at a preschool where I had to do lots of, and I mean lots of, project prep. Yes, I have the two-pack, but I’ve lost track of which pair is which and they both still work GREAT despite all my abuse.
I use glass cutting boards for my gel plates.
An inexpensive water spray bottle like this is invaluable for mixed media. You could probably find one at your local dollar store.
I’ll be trying out continuous spray soon!
Here’s a link to the Liquitex Basics page of the Liquitex Amazon store if you prefer to buy on Amazon.
And here’s a palette paper option.
Other materials I had on hand and/or bought locally
Any type of container you don’t mind staining and won’t be using for food or drink will work for water. I use an old ceramic kitchen implement canister.
A white plastic tablecloth.
